While he continues to proudly remind the public that he nominated the judges who overturned Roe v. Wade, President-elect Donald Trump has explicitly stated that he will veto any national abortion ban if it is brought before him. The pro-life community is frustrated and saddened. In an interview with Shannon Bream, JD Vance said that he and Trump are “sick of the nationalized culture war on this topic, and I think the best way is to return it to the voters in the states.”
The vote was given to citizens in many states this November. Unfortunately, there were a lot of disappointing outcomes. On November 5, the following states passed constitutional amendments to guarantee a “right” to abortion: Montana, Nevada, Colorado, New York, and Maryland. Abortion restrictions were in place in Missouri and Arizona before November 5 but were unfortunately lifted when new measures won on the ballot. Citizens of South Dakota, Nebraska, and Florida voted to protect unborn babies and rejected such amendments.
During his debate with Tim Walz, JD Vance said, “As a Republican who proudly wants to protect innocent life in this country, who proudly wants to protect the vulnerable, we’ve got to do so much better of a job at earning the American people’s trust back on this issue where they, frankly, just don’t trust us.” This trust has been broken not by the conservatives but because of the millions of dollars spent by Planned Parenthood, legacy media, and other abortion supporters to wage a propaganda war. The lies promulgated by the abortion advocates have been astonishing. Here are just a few:
- Women will not be able to receive miscarriage, stillbirth, or ectopic pregnancy care.
- Women will be thrown in jail for having a miscarriage.
- Women will be forced to carry pregnancies to term after a terminal diagnosis even though the baby will die.
- Women will die.
There is not a single state or pro-life legislator that believes miscarriage care is the same as an abortion. Abortion restrictions apply only to the willful act of terminating the life of a baby in the mother’s womb. These laws do not apply to delivering an already deceased baby through a dilation and curettage (D&C) or laparoscopy to remove an ectopic pregnancy. The above lies have become so widespread that some medical professionals have become confused, or willingly act as such to further their pro-abortion agenda. The word abortion is commonly used on medical records and insurance documentation in cases of miscarriage, further adding to confusion.
In 2023, a woman in Ohio, experiencing a miscarriage, left her local hospital after medical professionals were apparently unsure if they could help her because of the abortion laws in Ohio. She went home and miscarried her baby in the toilet. She was charged with fifth-degree felony abuse of a corpse. Five months later, a grand jury declined to indict the woman, thankfully. This is just one tragic story of medical malpractice resulting from the confusion caused by the pro-abortion propaganda machine.
The lack of clarity on these issues spans from unwitting ignorance to nefarious intent. The past decade has shown more and more doctors who are willing to openly declare their desire to DO HARM by advocating and participating in abortions. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that these sorts of doctors are all too happy to code as many treatments as abortion as possible. Furthermore, it pains me to consider it, but it would be within reason to believe these same doctors would maliciously deny miscarriage care to suffering mothers and blame pro-life legislation.
With all of the confusion and ill-will surrounding miscarriages, it is clear we need legal recourse to defend life. State and/or federal politicians must step up and force the medical community to clearly define and separate abortion and all other natal and prenatal care. This legislation must also anticipate the pro-death response and mandate that pre-natal care and procedures receive the same level of coverage as abortions. This would be a great first step for the Trump-Vance team in achieving their goal of making American families great again. Once we address the malicious confusion, then we can begin to win hearts and minds and build back the trust JD Vance was addressing.
